“Surprisingly warm and lumpy like an old dog.” I love your description. Moss is truly special. I’ve noticed more and more of the natural world since wearing my new glasses. Thank you for sharing your walk to the compost :)

Hi Susie, Thank you so much for this beautiful marking of a short yet profound journey to the compost pile! I love "songs and coffee all morning and into afternoon's breaking clouds." Every line in that poem is just gorgeous! Where can we read more of your poetry? The hoop house is really coming along- looks amazing! Thanks so much x

Hi Polly. Thank you. I can always come up with some excuse for an outdoor errand when I'm working at home - every time I go outside, I see something different. And yes, now with the hoop house taking shape, it is extra fun! I wrote a lot of poetry in college (published in the literary magazine) and some while I lived in New York, then stopped for years, then suddenly started up again when I got sober. Something shifted in my brain cells that opened up that creativity again. Recently, I haven't written many poems, but I will occasionally post some of the older ones here! Thank you as always and see you soon! xo

I love this, beautiful writing!! The language used in this reminded me of Robin Wall Kimmerer's book 'Gathering Moss.' Thank you for sharing this!

Kayley, thank you. That book looks fascinating, too - I'm going to get it and read it. Thanks for letting me know about it!

Love the language in this; just so.....just enough to suggest revelry and bliss. Thank you.

I teach a writing class for the LA Public Library; any chance you could zoom in some day; would love to use this passage and perhaps others to teach the ESL students; we meet weekly on Thursdays 220 pm PST....possible? Hope so.

Hi Robert,

Happy to have you share any of the posts with your students, and thank you for the invitation to zoom in! It might be tricky with my work schedule (I work full time as an editor at a newspaper company) but it's possible, so I'll send you an email! Hope you're well. Susie
