I think, Susie, you are having the perfect vacation, without recognizing it as such! Continue to smell the roses, and enjoy hugging on your fabulous Dad!
Ha, Jeanne - you are probably right - typical!! Thank you for that! I do know that as each day goes by, I'm more relaxed - and now we have to return to the real world full-time!
They did a study years back that showed that it takes two weeks just to realize one is on vacation, based on which the south African government used to require that people take at least 3 of their minimum 6 week annual vacation allotment in one go, so they would have one week .on. vacation and return refreshed. When I'm struggling to relax and really be "off duty" I find this useful to remember.
Oh I think that must be absolutely true Leela! I wish we had more sense about that in this country. Publishing is a terrible business to take a vacation from, because there are so many deadlines - and these days, staffs are lean so it is less likely you have someone who can just fill in and do your work while you're gone. But I keep striving for a way to get that separation.
It sounds to me like you’re balancing vacation/family and work activities just beautifully. I get the impression that work has, for obvious reasons, taken center stage in your life. I love hearing about your family, Farmer, what’s growing in the greenhouse and what’s for dinner. It has to be tricky for you, the intersection of your passions, and the writing about them as a job requirement. Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for sharing your thoughts and your life with us ♥️
Stephanie, thank you. You're spot on and I appreciate your feedback. I tend to go all in on what I'm doing, and I also have let work and passions merge repeatedly - it's not a great thing, because it is hard to separate them. But as I get older, I can't (or don't want to) multitask the way I used to, so I just have to find different approaches! Hope you are having a great summer, Susie
I admire your work ethic so much…I hope that came through in my words. To be honest, I never cease to be amazed at your talents, how much you accomplish and how beautifully you handle life. I’m inspired…just wanted to let you know.
Oh absolutely - your words were/are very kind and I am really glad if I can be any kind of inspiration at all because I’m just doing life as it comes at me the best I can! 🩷

Vacationing is hard work. Relaxing is like a four letter word 🥴
You said it, Lynn! Not sure what that's all about! (Love to you guys...)
Right back at you!
I adore puttering ❤️🙏
It’s the best!
