I love a good list. After all, I’ve been a magazine editor on and off (but mostly on) for my entire adult life. In fact, my very first published byline in a national magazine was this work of deep journalism: “Ten Fun Things to Do on A Summer Night,” in, yes, Seventeen magazine. This was long ago, so there wasn’t even any irony in that headline, which was followed by such benign suggestions as “toast marshmallows around a campfire.”
