In the harvest bucket, a mix of Strawberry Blonde and Desert Sun sunflowers.

My sunflowers have bloomed, and they are not disappointing. That’s sort of a silly thing to say, really, because who’s ever heard of a disappointing sunflower? Though come to think of it, when your too-short vase with a tall sunflower tips over, that’s disappointing. Or if the minute you bring sunflowers into the house, they begin to drop pollen everywhere, that can be aggravating. But still, it’s a sunflower! (And there are solutions for these problems.)

How lovely it is to have a whole new variety of flowers in September.
